#165 THE WALK (2015)

2015's The Walk is the true story of Phillipe Petit, who fulfilled a lifelong dream of walking from one World Trade Center tower to another in 1974. Joseph Gordon-Levitt plays Petit and we meet him as a Paris street entertainer. He comes across a story on the WTC being built and suddenly knows he is destined to make that walk. There's way too much autobiography in the first hour but once the movie get...s to NYC and the planning for the illegal walk starts, The Walk really gets going. The depiction of the walk is a nail biter even though we know what will happen, and if you have any kind of a fear of heights, you had better avoid. Kudos to director Bob Zemeckis for building suspense for that last gripping 20 minutes.
