THE THEORY OF EVERYTHING (2014)

#9 of this year is 2014's The Theory of Everything, the story of Stephen & Jane Hawking. I say this because there is very little science in this (a disappointment). We see them meet in Cambridge in 1963, before he is diagnosed and we move through their life together. Eddie Redmayne is tremendous as Hawking, using very little but his eyes and a silent mouth to convey all kinds of emotions - and is highly successful without being showy! Meanwhile, Felicity Jones as Jane is damn good. Both richly deserve their Oscar nominations. Film is good, but more of a typical biopic than anything new or different. More about how he came up with his theories and his battle to win support would have been welcome, but you won't be disappointed when you see Redmayne and Jones. Recommended.
