THE GOAL FOR 2018: 200 MOVIES WATCHED BY MIDNIGHT NEW YEAR'S EVE!  (AFTER TOPPING OUT AT 194 in 2017)

CAN HE DO IT?

TENTACLES (1977)

What do you get when you take a certain Steven Spielberg thriller about a killer shark, subtract the shark, add a killer octopus and sprinkle a ton of parmesian cheese on top?

This Italian-made (don’t let the American actors fool ya) piece of cheese, which rips off "Jaws" in every way possible. A seaside community is plagued by mysterious deaths in the water (hmm...sound familiar?). Dr. Ned Turner (esteemed director John Huston, slumming here as a hack actor) is among those baffled by what’s happening. What could be killing these people and eating their bodies to the bones? Maybe that evil corporation with a tunnel under the bay is pumping bad stuff into the water and mutating friendly ol’ Squiddly Diddly into…a giant octopus monster? Mama Mia!

Also collecting lira for their participation are Shelley Winters ("The Poseidon Adventure"), Henry Fonda, Claude Akins (“Sheriff Lobo” on B-J & the Bear) and Bo Hopkins. This schlock was directed by the so-called Oliver Hellman (real name—Ovidio G. Assonitis).

You've been warned!
