THE WEBER MOVIE COUNTDOWN

SULLY (2016)

#139 is Sully. Perfect role for Tom Hanks as the quiet serious pilot who saved 155 lives with an emergency landing in the Hudson River. Or "on," as Sully corrects the NTSB. Director Clint Eastwood concocts a somber, easy-going tale that gets its drama from the investigation into the incident and the NTSB's insistence that Sully could have gotten the plane back to LaGuardia. Good supporting cast (Aaron Eckhart, Jamey Sheridan, Mike O'Mally) a big plus, except for Laura Linney as Sully's wife. Her scenes consist of weepy moments on the phone that don't add to the narrative and bring the movie to a teary stop. But Sully is def worth a watch.
