THE WEBER MOVIE COUNTDOWN

STRANGERLAND (2014)

Ugh. #80 is again from Australia, 2014's Strangerland. Muddled and slow despite a really strong performance from Nicole Kidman, this flick finds Kidman and hubby Joseph Fiennes having moved to a small crappy town for reasons that you may guess early on. They have two kids, a promiscuous teenage daughter and a younger son who is told to keep an eye on her. Something's very off with this family, and things go extremely awry when both kids disappear before a dust storm hits. Hugo Weaving is the policeman trying to find them. Kidman is really good here but there's not much of a movie around her as Fiennes does little except brood and you can guess pretty much everything in moments what it takes this family 111 minutes to deduce. I would pass this one up. New blu-Ray release.
