THE WEBER MOVIE COUNTDOWN

STAR TREK BEYOND (2016)

We hit triple digits on the Movie Countdown with Star Trek Beyond (#100). It's a fun movie as all of your favorite Star Trek characters are back and expertly inhabited. Scotty (Simon Pegg) has decent screen time and makes the most of it (no surprise since Pegg co-wrote the script). Story isn't a mystery - this mission requires teamwork by every main member of the Enterprise crew as the ship is destroyed, they are stranded on a hostile planet and they must get an old rustbu...cket of a starship they discover to work to snuff out a threat that could destroy potentially every Federation planet. All are good, the story picks up well (after a sag in the middle) and it certainly holds your interest. It just felt like an episode in a series, not anything special that you would think about ten minutes after you leave the theater. Still worth seeing but I suspect there are fewer and fewer situations left where no man has gone before.

TLA one-word review: entertaining
