#24 - SPLIT (2017)

While this isn't exactly The Sixth Sense, writer-director M. Night Shyamalan has recovered from misfires like The Happening with a solid, sordid B movie that benefits most from James McAvoy's 24 different performances. His character(s) abduct three teenage girls (at the King of Prussia mall!) and lock them up in some sort of subterranean area in Philly. One of the most dangerous personalities that inhabits poor Kevin has "stepped into the light" and is running things. But the other personalities briefly surface and try to reach Kevin's shrink (Betty Buckley) for help. You'll figure some of this plot stuff out but Split, together with his earlier The Visit, indicates that M. Night is back to creating a better standard of films again. And wait til you see the surprise in the very last moment of the film. Recommended.

Oh and it was WONDERFUL to see our friend Ameerah Briggs in the film as a Philly cop!!! Definitely our favorite moment in the film!!
