SICARIO (2015)

2015's Sicario is a brutal unrelenting film about the battles with the drug cartels in Mexico. FBI agent Emily Blunt, after seeing two colleagues die during a raid on a drug house in Arizona, agrees to serve on a task force that she thinks will bring the people that did this to justice. But the good guys and the bad guys are a little hard to tell apart once the task force hits Mexico. Josh Brolin as the seemingly cheery leader has much to hide, and the mysterious Mexican a...gent Benicio Del Toro is even harder to decipher. This extremely violent and dark film attempts to show the futility of fighting a drug war where 20% of the population won't stop using the product, and both sides know it. All are good, especially Blunt who learns harsh lessons and can't do a damn thing about it. Tough and recommended. #7 of the year.
