THE WEBER MOVIE COUNTDOWN

REALITY (2014)

2014's Reality (#92 of 2015), from the director of Rubber (Google Rubber and see ASAP!), Quentin Dupieux. It's an absurdist surreal farce about an aging cameraman (Alain Chabet) who is about to get his big break directing his dream film about killer televisions (!) provided he finds his would-be producer a groan effect for the flick that will be the best groan of all time, one that will win him an Oscar! And that's about as linear as this gets. Characters turn up in each other's dreams, in each other's films, even in each other's realities. If you take this on its own absurdist terms it is amusing. But don't look for an iota of anything else. Featuring Jon Heder aka Napoleon Dynamite as a cooking show host with an itching problem wearing a giant rat outfit; half of "Tim & Eric Awesome Show, Great Job;" and a wild boar that swallows a videotape whole. In French and English.

TLA one-word review: absurd
