INCREDIBLY OBSCURE FILM DEPARTMENT

RAPTURE-PALOOZA (2013)

You’re probably not familiar with the raunchy Rapture-Palooza,  a comedy about the Rapture with a pretty savvy cast who knows how to do subtle (and not-so-subtle) comedy - Anna Kendrick, Craig Robinson, Ken Jeong, John Michael Higgins, Ana Gasteyer  and Rob Corddry are among  those living in post-rapture Seattle.  Kendrick and her boyfriend are trying to live their lives and one of their dreams is to have their own food cart.  That lasts until a meteorite destroys it.  Well, it IS the End of Days and all that.  Craig Robinson is the Antichrist here – well, he likes to be called “The Beast.”  He’s also a BIG Vin Diesel fan, a former Boise, Idaho mayoral candidate and is a tad horny.  Anyway, when Kendrick and boyfriend and boyfriend’s father (Corddry) descend upon the Antichrist’s estate to check out job opportunities, you’ll  never guess who falls in lust!  They decide to use his attraction to her to try and lock him up (they can’t kill him because he comes back as…Satan!)   Robinson is quite amusing as the Antichri… I mean The Beast, Kendrick is her cute self and most of the players have their moments to shine.  BTW, this movie beat This is the End, another end of the world film featuring Robinson (as himself), to theaters and while Rapture-Palooza isn’t nearly as good, it’s worth a look.

Here’s the red-banded trailer (NSFW)  and a scene where The Beast sings a tune on the piano for Kendrick (also very NSFW). Needless to say, you shouldn’t watch any of this movie at work - unless you're self-employed!
