THE WEBER MOVIE COUNTDOWN

MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS (2017)

This film starts out marvelously as our lead character, famed detective Hercule Poirit (played by Kenneth Branagh), in front of a large crowd of angry zealots in Jerusalem, figures out among a priest, a rabbi and an iman, which one stole priceless artifacts from a temple. Despite Branaugh’s delightful portrayal, the film goes off the rails after the murder of one Mr. Ratched, played by Johnny Depp.  For starters, there are many suspects but we nary get to know any of them.  And by the time the killer or killers is revealed, we hardly care because we’ve hardly met them.  I have to say I was bored by this film.  Loved the original one made in the 70s – HATED this one.  Why was this made?

SHOULD TLA SEE THIS: only if she was the actual murderer
