THE WEBER MOVIE COUNTDOWN

MAN IN RED BANDANA (2017)

This documentary tells the amazing story of Welles Crowther, one of the victims of the 9/11 attacks.  Welles worked in insurance and was in the second tower when the second plane hit.  Welles could have fled and gotten out safely – but he led 18 people to safety, showing them the way, helping the injured – and continually going up to help others.  He had wanted to be a firefighter, a first responder – and on 9/11, he became a rescuer needed by all.  Tragically but fittingly, he was with a battalion chief and other firefighters in the ground floor lobby when the building collapsed.  The documentary included many interviews with the people he saved, who only knew they were rescued by a man wearing a red bandana, something Welles always had with him since he was a little kid.  His mother, reading a story in the New York Times about tower survivors, saw the mentions of the red bandana – and knew instantly they were talking about Welles.  Man in Red Bandana tells a tremendous story full of emotion, and what the efforts and sacrifice of one man can mean for so many.  Recommended
