MAD MAX: FURY ROAD (2015)

#134 on the (soon to be final) movie countdown of 2015 is Mad Max Fury Road. Kind of a reboot of the Max Max series of post-apocalypse films starring Mel Gibson as Max and directed by George Miller (who also directs the reboot). Well, Tom Hardy takes over for Mel here and does a fine job as the tortured road warrior who utters few words. He's almost a sidekick to Charlize Theron's Furiosa (who's also grimy, gritty and effective). She's a lieutenant who is fed up with the way things are in this giant Citadel that is controlled by Immortan Joe. So she makes a break for it in a war rig, taking Joe's prized wives with her (five of them!). And Max ends up with them because he was captured and being used as a blood bag for a War Boy named Nux (trust me - it works). This film is one spectacularly vivid chase with very little time to catch one's breath. The effects are amazing with very little CGI in play. The performances are excellent and this movie will leave you exhausted, as if you spent its two hour running time being chased by extremely hostile types. Bravo to George Miller for making Mad Max better than the original!
