LOVE ME DEADLY (1972)

THE WEBER MOVIE COUNTDOWN

ExFest #6 and #77 is one I was always wary of seeing. 1972's Love Me Deadly was a film that was extremely hard to find for a number of reasons but it was exhumed tonight - pun intended - by Exhumed Films for the fest. This is one of the most sordid, uncomfortable, exploitive, perverse films ever. And certainly one of the few films period which offers up Lyle Waggoner of The Carol Burnett Show as its male lead (!). Mary Wilcox is Lindsay, who has daddy issues, sexual issue...s, you name it, she's got issues. She married Lyle because he reminds her of her father. But she still can't make love to hubby after getting married. I'm not going to tell you her biggest hangup but let's just say it's what makes this film so vile. HOW did this film get made? If there was an audience in mind for this, I don't ever want to meet them! Don't feel like you have to see Love Me Deadly - EVER! Avoid avoid avoid.

TLA one-word review: depraved
