THE WEBER MOVIE COUNTDOWN

KEANU (2016)

#74 is Keanu, the big-screen starring debut from Key and Peele. The plot: the two whitest black guys in the world are forced to infiltrate a drug dealer's gang in order to get Peele's adorable little kitty Keanu back (you see, the gang broke into the wrong house but took Keanu. There's more but it's a loooong story). The cat is extremely unabashedly adorable, and this may be the first and only time in my life I will hear a multitude of "ahhhhhs" (mine included) as a sweet ...little kitty dodges gunfire in slow motion! There are some really funny moments, but some of the gags are stretched way too thin. There is one hilarious extended cameo by someone playing themselves that I will not spoil here (almost as funny and unexpected as Bill Murray's in Zombieland) and a second not-totally-unexpected voice cameo that I found amusing. The movie's not bad, it just is too long and repetitive. It would have made a great sketch but almost two hours grows wearying. But that KITTEN - a star in the making!!!

Should TLA see this: anyone who loves cats (check) and George Michael (check) needs to see this!!!! Awwwwww! (The awww is for the kitty, not George).
