JOHN WICK: CHAPETER TWO (2017)

John Wick: Chapter Two (#42 of 2017) has its work cut out for it, as it cannot be as surprising, as much of an unexpected pleasure as the first film. Yep, expectations are higher - and the sequel rewards fans with a pretty good story. Hit man Wick (Keanu Reeves) takes care of some unfinished business before the initial credits roll. He thinks he's done with the life, but he owes a marker to a boss named Santino. When he refuses to carry out the obligation, Santino blows... up his house, barely sparing his life. Wick's only choice, he is advised to colleagues, is to honor the marker, get back in the game, and head for Rome to off the crime boss' sister. After he carries out his task, Wick has a $7 million bounty on his head and EVERYONE is after him. The choreographed violence is as stylized as the first film and perhaps even more absurd fun as Chapter 2 aims to outdo its predecessor. Keanu is still a man of limited words here, but still to the character's advantage. And Lawrence Fishburne turns up in a neat cameo that harkens back a bit to "The Matrix." John Wick: Chapter 2 is a solid sequel that sets up for a third installment at the end. And I'm ok with that!
