CAN HE DO IT?

I.T. (2016)

Airline tycoon Mike Regan (Pierce Brosnan) is taking his company public.  He needs to as he’s overextended and needs the influx of cash.  A presentation of their new app (which will let the wealthy call up a private jet like an Uber) ends up glitchy – and freelance IT guy Ed Porter (James Frecheville) steps in and makes the repairs mid-presentation, saving Brosnan’s butt.  He invites the guy over to his house to fix his wi-fi over the weekend (Really?  Geek Squad not available?)  His smart house, where the computer system controls everything – and I mean EVERYTHING.  Well, this IT guy is a little screwed up and starts making a play (and picking up at school) his teenage daughter.  When things are just a little TOO creepy, Brosnan throws the guy out of his house, and fires him.  But Ed has already made some changes to his house – and Brosnan’s sports car – that give HIM control.  He also hacks into the SEC, which has to approve his IPO, and causes all kinds of trouble there.  This is decent at first, but get a little too out there – Brosnan’s character does even MORE idiotic things only so the plot has somewhere to go and at the end you’re tired of his dumbness – or should I say the script’s dumbness.  Anna Friel is really good in a small amount of scenes as his wife.  Might be good on a slow night but you’ve been warned.

SHOULD TLA SEE THIS? Better she plays on her computer for 90 minutes
