THE WEBER MOVIE COUNTDOWN

HOW I LIVE NOW (2013)

Movie catchup: #34 is 2013's How I Live Now, which is rated R but based on a young adult novel where American teenager Saoirse Ronan is sent to stay with cousins in the English countryside. She finds romance as World War 3 breaks out and the story becomes grim and harsh - but ultimately all works out (!). Uncomfortable at times, this holds interest but the ending seems like a cop-out. #35 is 1976's Midway, with an amazing all-star cast given nothing to do as we watch planes and aircraft carriers get blown up in this recreation of WW2's battle for Midway Island. Interesting for its chess match strategies but all else rings dumb.

TLA one-word review (How I Live Now): intense
