THE WEBER MOVIE COUNTDOWN

#4 HEIST (2015)

I'm getting back to the movie stuff. #4 is the heist movie and generically named Heist (2015) and I'm sure that the only reason this has such a good cast is because everyone wanted to work with Robert DeNiro. It could NOT have been the script because it's a pretty shoddy story. Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Neegan of The Walking Dead) is a pretty standup guy who used to be casino owner Pope's (DeNiro) right hand man. But he went off and found love and had a kid, etc. but his daughter became sick and he can't afford the medical treatments. He asks Pope for $300,000 - he says no, which pisses off Morgan who gets himself fired. So he then falls in with security guard Cox (Dave Bautista) to rob the casino of 3 mil. First fatal flaw: he gets fired but 24 hours after being fired, he has the vault codes - WHICH WEREN'T CHANGED!! Dumb crap like this abounds throughout Heist. Anyway, they almost pull it off but end up running for their lives when they come across a city bus and hop aboard - with about ten passengers, who are now hostages. So now we have a low-rent Speed but DB Sweeney is the driver, not Sandra Bullock. I could go on, but this is a pretty pretty pretty pretty pretty pretty pretty dumb script! What the heck is De Niro doing in this B movie nonsense? The final twist is so ludicrous it doesn't hold up to 10 seconds of scrutiny. Heist should have stolen some better ideas from any kind of caper film. UGH!

Should TLA see this? Are you aware what UGH means?!?
