GET A JOB (2016)

Yep more movies...#62 is a turkey from 2016 called Get a Job. Or should I say from 2012, since that's when it was made. It sat around for 4 years until it barely received a theatrical/digital release from Lionsgate. It's the story of a bunch of millennials who get through college and begin to find out how crappy the world really is. Miles Teller (Whiplash) and Anna Kendrick are BF and GF. He struggles so much he has to (gasp) SELL HIS BIG SCREEN TV!! She loses her job an...d has to move into the frat house-like living quarters with Miles and other failing millennial types. Not a darn thing rings true - the closest thing to truth might be when Miles' dad Bryan Cranston loses his job and has to struggle for the first time in a long time. Of course, that turns into an inane subplot where he fights and schemes to get an interview with a digital bigwig assisted by the frat millennial boys. John C. McGinley continues to play to type as a gruff Wall Street boss who makes his newbies drink one of the most disgusting substances you could possibly imagine. I'll just say it has something to do with deer. Alison Brie plays a weird office slut in the headhunter office where Miles lands a job, hired by Bruce Davison. Marcia Gay Harden is the horrid and obvious CEO. Plus there's Jay Pharoah (who is actually funny), Hugo from Lost (Jorge Garcia) is the janitor with mystical powers and John Cho pops up for maybe 32 seconds (lucky him)! There are a lot of talented people in this mess. Get a script, people! Run from this, even you Anna Kendrick completists out there (is she the new Michael Caine, who never turns down a role? Really starting to wonder).
