EARTHQUAKE (1974)

#156 of 2016 is the 1974 disaster movie Earthquake. Aidan & Emma were over and we wanted to give them a taste of what Sensurround was like in the movies. So we cranked up our home theater system and suffered through the soap opera plot (Charlton Heston is in a loveless marriage with Ava Gardner but having an affair with Genevieve Bujold while working for Ava's father Lorne Greene as an architect blah blah blah) to get to the Sensurround part. And MAN did the room shake!! ...All three cats fled the room and were later found together sleeping on our bed, waiting for the downstairs to stop quivering. It's all miniatures and sometimes quite cheesy but that was the best there was in 1974! And there was a lot more to Walter Matthau's cameo as a drunk dressed like a pimp then I remembered! More of a thrill ride than a movie, Earthquake still wasn't as cheesy as the recent (and awful) San Andreas.

TLA one-word review: shaky
