THE WEBER MOVIE COUNTDOWN

DOLLS (1987)

#65 and the fifth and final of the Empire Pictures marathon is 1987's Dolls. Little Judy's father and stepmother (who are mean rotten people who don't like Judy very much) are on vacation with her when they get stuck in the mud during a storm somewhere in what seems to be rural England (actually shot in Italy). They take refuge in a big old mansion belonging to Gabriel and his wife Hilary (Guy Rolfe and Hilary Mason, both very good). Other weary travelers also get stuck b...ecause of the storm and are also offered shelter. The house is FILLED with dolls, as Gabriel is a dollmaker. And when it's time for bed, creepy things start to happen as these dolls seem to be alive and nasty (even deadly) to all of the mean old adults. Movie is simple and quick, SFX are good. The characters are extremely black and white which means you'll know who will be dispatched and who will be spared. Dolls is a decent time waster.

TLA one-word review: creepy
