DEATH OF A PRESIDENT (2016)

One more - #89 is the interesting failure Death of a President (2016). This is a British docudrama that chronicles the assassination of George W. Bush in Chicago a few years back. If you don't recall that offhand, you're right. W is still alive and kicking. The film uses archival footage of protests and politicians mixed with actors playing cabinet members, Secret Service agents, Chicago police and the like to portray why the President was killed, by who, what the assassin...'s motivations were, and so on. The idea is compelling but Death of a President could never get me to suspend disbelief enough to lose myself in this alternate reality. Director-coproducer-cowriter Gabriel Range makes quite the effort here but the approach is pretty dry and clinical, which i think was a wrong turn. Not uninteresting but uninvolving.

SHOULD TLA SEE THIS? Only if she would have been thrilled by a Dick Cheney presidency.
