CAN HE DO IT?

THE DAY THE WORLD ENDED (2001)

#88 is one of the Creature Features Showtime did back at the turn of the century using the names of classic horror films from the 50s but writing new stories in most cases. 2001's The Day the World Ended features an incredibly miscast Nastassja Kinski as a pushy school psychologist coming to a small town called Sierra Vista, trying to help one comic-book-reading boy in particular with some sort of emotional problem. Meantime, something alien is eating the townspeople, including school principal Steven Tobolowsky. Oh and the boy thinks he has a family connection to the alien. Randy Quaid is the boy's father, playing it pretty straight here. Aside from the rather laughable sight of Kinski playing a psychologist, nothing really to see here. Move along.

SHOULD TLA SEE THIS? Better she should watch Cat People again.
