THE CRASH ( 2017)

43 on the ever-lovin' Movie Countdown is 2017's The Crash. And rarely was a film more aptly named. Because this purported stock market/bank cyber-terrorism "thriller" falls to the ground with a thud. It's about as exciting as counting all the pennies from your change jar. Frank Grillo is a federally-indicted stock trader who is called in by the feds to try and stop a... cyber-attack about to hit the stock market. His one-of-a-kind advice is pretty basic but don't worry about that because the plot is pretty incoherent. Mnnie Driver is in this as his wife and they have a daughter in her late teens who is battling cancer (what a TERRIBLE subplot to throw away - but throw they do). Ms. Driver have little to do here. Christopher McDonald has some showy moments as the Federal Reserve chairman who may or may not be involved in this attack. John Leguizamo is some weird computer whiz in a wheelchair. Action includes people on computers yelling vague things on the phone to other people on computers but I am totally unsure as to what terrible things were happening. It's On Demand right now - I suggest you demand something else. Or watch CNBC.
