THE WEBER MOVIE COUNTDOWN

CENTRAL INTELLIGENCE (2016)

#83 is Central Intelligence, the new Kevin Hart-Dwayne Johnson comedy that opens Friday. The Rock is a former fat kid who was picked on in high school, and especially traumatized by school bullies throwing him butt naked into the middle of an assembly honoring senior standout Hart. Hart was the only one who ran to his aid, something that he would never forget. Two decades later and The Rock pops up again right around the time of their 20-year high school reunion. He's not... fat anymore (he's The Rock, after all!) and is still idolizing his old pal. But now he also seems to be a renegade CIA agent who may or may not be a bad guy. Oh and he's quite the odd sort (he loves unicorns). There's a lot of dumb stuff in this, but both leads are game and Dwayne really throws himself into this quirky role and does a decent job with it. There are elephant-sized plot holes but there are two brilliant cameos that I enjoyed and it held my interest despite clocking in at 114 minutes, way too long for a flick like this. Anyway Central Intelligence isn't the most intelligent movie you'll ever see but it's a decent if predictable diversion.

SHOULD TLA SEE THIS? Well, one does get to see The Rock totally in the buff and dancing naked in a shower. But believe me when I tell you that it's not anything you wanna see!!
