CAKE (2014)

Jennifer Aniston has made her mark as Rachel and in tons of mediocre Hollywood moneymakers. But she's always had a knack for appearing in some marvelous independent films where she plays against type, like Friends with Money and The Good Girl (both of which you should very much see). So we finally caught up with her latest indy, Cake (2014). She is ultra-unglamorized here as Claire, a woman who is divorced, scarred and fighting through all kinds of therapy, mentally and physically. And I do mean fighting as she is angry and takes it out on everyone. She's amazing and much better than her material as Cake boils down to formula after a strong beginning. You should see this for her excellent work - it's a shame the filmmakers don't make better choices. #57 of 2015
