CAN HE DO IT?

THE WEBER MOVIE COUNTDOWN

BURNT (2015)

Burnt is an early contender for worst film seen this year. In this kitchen nightmare, Bradley Cooper is a temperamental chef who did some baaad things in Paris to his then-colleagues, goes off on a bender and then turns up in London two years later and brings the old crew from Paris together in search of the elusive Michelin third star he just HAS to have to make his life complete. Cooper's character, Adam Jones, is so nasty and abusive (a la Gordon Ramsey, who is one of the... producers of this) that I really didn't care one whit what happened to him, a major flaw for any movie. Every action is telegraphed, characters walk in and explain who they are and how they are connected with Adam (which is quite lazy screenwriting, if you ask me), things get thrown around in kitchens (shocker) and he and sous chef Sienna Miller fall in love after he screams and shouts at her and even fires her. Aw how cute. I couldn't STAND this movie - I'd rather watch a random 90 minutes of the Food Network then sit through this again. Burnt fails like an overcooked soufflé. If you want to see a MUCH better film about chefs and cooking see Jon Favreau's Chef! #9 of 2016.

TLA one-word review: rotten
