THE WEBER MOVIE COUNTDOWN

BON COP BAD COP (2006)

#87 is something I stumbled across on Netflix the other day. 2006's Bon Cop Bad Cop is a Canadial bilingual action comedy very much in the Lethal Weapon mode starring Colm Feore as a by-the-book Toronto detective and Patrick Huard as a rough-and-tumble Montreal cop who have to work together when a body is found on the Quebec-Ontario border. Both speak French and English and go back-and-forth on language (the deal is they speak French in Quebec, English in Ontario. These two have a really strong chemistry and while much of this is played for amusement, there are some extremely tense scenes amidst the silliness. Hockey fans take note: the suspect they are after is known as the "Tattoo Killer," who is taking revenge on those who have moved teams to the U-S or even worse - those who have enticed great players not to play in Canada. For instance, one female player agent is killed because she was the one who convinced a great player who wore number 88 not to play in Quebec and to play in a place called "Philadelphia." She gets an ice skate to the head and a tattoo that says "I love Philadelphia" with the L and the A missing - a clue to the next victim, who sold The Great One to L-A! It's not subtle but lots of fun. Lots of humorous shots at the whole Quebec vs. the rest of Canada thing. You could do a LOT worse then spending some time with Bon (Good) Cop, Bad Cop. Followed by a sequel this year, eleven years later, that I will track down.

TLA examen d'un mot: palpitant

(I think that means thrilling)
