BOLGEN AKA THE WAVE (2015)

#123, Norway's first disaster movie Bolgen aka The Wave. It hits every Hollywood cliche there is, but does it quite well. Geologist Kristen (Kristoffer Joner) is leaving his job at a mountain early warning center. A rockslide could trigger an historic tsunami that could happen at anytime. But as he is leaving he keeps noticing signs of what could be impending doom. Or is he just overreacting? Effects are pretty good and scenes of the post-tsunami carnage are a bit stronger than Hollywood usually allows (San Andreas, anybody?). If you have any affinity for these type of flicks then this is something you'll wanna see. Opening in the U.S. In March, this is Norway's official entry for the 2016 Best Foreign Film Oscar. We'll see how that goes.
