CAN HE DO IT?

THE WEBER MOVIE COUNTDOWN

#198 is this year's The Autopsy of Jane Doe. This one starts out pretty darn well as the sheriff brings an unknown body (a "Jane Doe") to the father-and-son coroner team of Brian Cox and Emile Hirsch one night. She was found buried in a basement within house where there were several mysterious deaths. The sheriff needs a cause of death by the AM so they start to do an autopsy. This part is fascinating (if grisly) as the two find out that there is all sort...s of weird trauma to the body that can't be seen with a glance. The more odd stuff they find, the more mysterious it gets - until a wicked storm suddenly turns up outside and the movie suddenly turns into a haunted house flick, getting away from the forensic stuff and into a lot of standard spooky stuff. The Autopsy of Jane Doe loses its mojo halfway thru which is a same because this could have really been something. BTW, TLA guessed the twist the film was setting up within the first ten minutes, so maybe this wasn't even a great first half.

TLA one-word review: predictable
