ANT-MAN (2015)

#65 of the 2015 movie countdown is Ant-Man, another worthy addition to the Marvel universe. A little breezier than previous super hero efforts, but It still works as we see the origin of the second Ant-Man from the comics combined with a bit of a heist plot and it sticks together. Paul Rudd is likable (of course!) as Scott Lang, the ex-con trying to make amends and to be able to see his daughter once he gets a job and a place to live. Michael Douglas is well cast as Hank Pym, the originator of Ant-Man, who enlists Scott's help to stop his ex-protégé from reinventing his shrinking tech and selling it to baddies like HYDRA! Two regrets - there is just too much comedy relief during the climatic caper with Scott's three roommates, who are played almost too silly. And Marvel, can we not reveal EVERY moment from the film before the movie actually is in theaters? Without trying very hard at all, I knew way too much going in and would have preferred not to. Anyway, go and see Ant-Man even if you are not a comic geek because it's a good mix of fun and superhero antics (except for during the aforementioned caper).

TLA one-word review: lighthearted
