THE WEBER MOVIE COUNTDOWN

A NEW LEAF (1971)

1971's A New Leaf is 117. Directed, written by and co-starring Elaine May, this black cult comedy features Walter Matthau way against type as Henry, a spoiled rich kid/man who has spent all of his money. Looking for a cash cow, he finds the solution - Henrietta (May). She's rich - filthy rich - and has no discernible attractive qualities. He plans to marry her - and then kill her. Funnier than it sounds, A New Leaf does its job well and makes one laugh heartily. Somethin...g else happens here. May is so darn good as Henrietta, making this sad misfit so human that she gets you to care - and care deeply - about her character. But will Henry come around to feeling the same way? This is a criminally neglected comedy which only recently has seen the light of DVD and would be worth your time.

SHOULD TLA SEE THIS: heck, y'all should see this!!
