7500 (2014)

The movie 7500 was shot in 2011, and was supposed to be released to theaters in 2012. And then it was postponed til 2014. And now possibly on DVD this year. However, I snagged a copy (I enjoy tracking down these lost films) and can tell you that 7500 is actually a j-horror film with American actors directed by the man who directed the Japanese classic The Grudge, Takashi Shimizu. The setting is an airplane (Flight 7500) headed from LAX to Japan. A very nervous man dies of a heart attack after some extreme turbulence. After his death, and after they clear first class in order to store the body, weird stuff starts to happen on the plane. Leslie Bibb, Amy Smart, Jerry Ferrera and Ryan Kwanten are some of the passengers and crew trying to figure out, among other things, why the body has disappeared, why this man had a Japanese death doll in his carry-on and why there seems to be an F-16 checking their plane out, among other things. 7500 is way too short and way too muddled to make a heck of a lot of sense. I believe it has been hacked into incoherence which is a shame because 7500 looks great and has enough creepy moments to make you wish for far better. If this ever comes out in any medium, I can't recommend based on this version. #24 of 2016.
