THE WEBER MOVIE COUNTDOWN

5 TO 7 (2015)

Screened 5 to 7 recently, which is due out in April. A movie that you either will love or hate, we chose love. An aspiring writer (Anton Yelchin) gazes upon a 30-something French beauty (Berenice Marlohe) smoking outside the St. Regis one day and gets the nerve up to have a conversation. He asks her out, but she is only available between 5 and 7pm on certain days. We find she is married to a Frenchman (Lambert Wilson), has children and lives in NY, but is free to have an a...ffair during those ambiguous hours where she doesn't have to be accounted for. As a matter of fact, he is accepted as a member of the family (!) along with her husband's mistress (Olivia Thirlby). I know, major disbelief is needed to accept this, but the performances are excellent, particularly Yelchin, and this sort of works as a fable. Also amusing in a couple of scenes are Frank Langella and Glenn Close as Yelchin's parents. If you can handle the premise, this is a nice little film that's worth your time. #26 of 2015.
